After gaining attention both online and in the streets with his buzzing songs "Everywhere I Go" and "Trap By My Lonely," 20 year-old Staten Island rapper Squidnice returns today with the official video for the infectious trap anthem "Trap By My Lonely" which premiered via Pigeons & Planes. The video is directed by Ferrari Xavi.
Squidnice has built a fervent following in his often overlooked native borough and is gaining undeniable momentum as the rest of the city begins to notice the young rapper. "Trap By My Lonely" alone has garnered the attention of both critics and audiences beyond New York, as its play count has steadily risen across streaming platforms (currently at 2 million streams). With his raw energy, unique look, and an engaged online following, Squid is ripe to become one of the new leaders of the youth movement that is currently running hip-hop.
"Trap By My Lonely" is gaining buzz right in time to be a summertime hit; the track even received a Frank Ocean co-sign last weekend when it was featured on episode 3 of his Blonded radio show. “Squidnice is one of those artists that can draw you in off of charisma alone,” said Pigeons and Planes. “He has the confidence you need to be a star in the game today.” Pigeons and Planes also named "Trap By My Lonely" one of the Best Songs of 2017 so far.
Squidnice is currently preparing the release of his Trap By My Lonely EP, which will be released soon. To celebrate the release of the EP, Squid will perform at SOBs in New York City on Thursday, June 29th. The show is open to all ages and starts at 7pm. Also stay tuned for more details about Squid's upcoming full-length project, The Craccen, dropping later this summer.
