https://soundcloud.com/firewoodpoetry/its-my-art-to-xxxx-1/s-vqJFZ

Canadian electronic music producer, Firewood Poetry, will release her fifth single, “It’s my art to xxxx” with support from the music label Rauthentic. “It’s my art to xxxx” lulls its listeners into a dream-like state before vigorously awakening them with heavy percussion and a hauntingly assertive voice which demands ownership of its own artistic pursuits. From the serene shores and lush rainforest of Salt Spring Island, B.C., Firewood Poetry incorporates the tranquility of the West Coast’s natural landscape into her music. Her genre may be categorized as trip hop, but her style is authentic and one of a kind. Marci Phonix - RIOT [Music Video] | @MarciPhonix |

Grime originator MARCI PHONIX returns with brand new music. Call to arms ‘RIOT’ is the first of several hard hitting social commentary singles and videos, taking on the police, the media and blasting fellow MCs for not tackling the real issues young black men face in 2017

Spotify: open.spotify.com/track/4KtRApUtmLYJTL8K2evYg4

"I've been gone for a few years now and these rappers are still just talking about the same old thing... designer clothes, drugs and getting girls, whilst the police are still kicking our mums front door off, killing us in the streets, following us around shops... someone needs to start telling the truth!"

Marci Phonix, one of the founding fathers of UK Grime, burst onto the scene back in 2002 alongside contemporaries such as Dizzee RascalWileyJME and Kano. After performing at sold out venues across the country, he fast gained a reputation of being one of the fiercest MC's in the industry, headlining events such as Sidewinder and Eskimo Dance along the way. This success led to collaborations with SkeptaGhettsand Big Narstie, with his music being championed by all of the key media outlets of the time. Now he is back with a fire in his belly, an arsenal of new material and a message for the masses "Nobody's Safe!" Stating;

"My new music isn't just another compilation of music, it’s a piece of me!”

The first instalment is debut single ‘Riot’, which acts as a call to arms to disaffected youth across the board. The controversial track and music video has been championed by Grm DailyComplex and Spotify and helps deliver his message of alienation, frustration and the misrepresentation of young black men in modern day Britain. Certainly not pulling any punches on his return, Marci Phonix looks set to cause a stir once again in the UK Hip Hop and Grime scene.

Stonebwoy - Falling Again ft. Kojo Funds (Official Video) | @stonebwoyb |

Award winning Ghanaian artist Livingstone Etse Satekla aka Stonebwoy has teamed up with Kojo Funds to deliver this stunning new single. Produced, mixed and mastered by multiple award winning Ghanaian producer Mix Master Garzy‘Falling Again’ is performed in English and Patios, which emphasizes the diversity of both artists over a laid back dancehall meets afrobeats production. Stonebwoy explains;

"I was looking for someone that I felt I could relate with on the most natural level and Kojo was just the guy (being super authentic with his sound and also a brother from the Motherland). He sent his verse back very quickly and it best suited what I was trying to achieve which was the feel good/ meaningful vibe”

Stonebwoy shot to International fame in 2014 with his hit single ‘Baafira Feat. Sarkodie, but the burgeoning dancehall act initially started performing as a rapper In high school, occasionally appearing on a then well known rapping battle ‘Kahasari Level’ defeating established acts such as Dr Cryme and Sarkodie. This led to him being signed to Mobo Award Winning Dancehall act Samini’s own record record label, and after releasing his first album ‘Grade 1’, he went on to form his own musical movement ‘Burniton Music Group’ (BMG). ‘Falling Again’ is taken off his next studio album EOM (Epistles of Mama) which is scheduled to be released November 2017 under Zylofon Music.

Tropic, Tristan Gibbs, merging spoken word and rap together to align his thoughts and day to day experiences in life.

Sunlight generates a vibrant, neo-soul/hip hop vibe that’s reflective of sunny London days. The boombap style drums along with the simplistic, groovy bassline is the back bone to the track, allowing the both unique vocal styles ride along fluently. Sunlight combines the musical backgrounds of both Tyler (Ex Teen brains) and Tristan (Tropic) to create a sweet summer number.

Merging jazz with hip hop/ boom bap and the way words are spoken over these beats brings Fanshore and Tropic together on their debut single together.

Felly - Wide Angle (ft. Konshens) (Official Video) | @fellythekid |

He hails from Connecticut, but his sound is decidedly SoCal. 21 year old Felly finished school at the University of Southern California not a moment too soon, as the buzz surrounding his music has reached a deafening level. With an equal mixture of reggae and hip-hop samples, his sound is the sort of music that takes a listener and lifts them onto a sonic cloud. Close your eyes, tilt your head back, and soak in the stellar vibes. Still not convinced? Check out the brand new video for “Wide Angle,” and try not to bob your head along to this one.

“Wide Angle” is a visual trip through the rolling hills of the California countryside. Accompanied by scathingly hot crew of lady friends at his side, they set up their inner tubes and rafts and turn this barren hillside into their own private beach. Director Walu employs an arsenal of visual tricks to turn this clip into a mindbending ride (or should we say a Wild Strawberry field?) Lens distortions, color replacements, liquifying the footage, and flipping perspectives all makes this video a seismic exercise in the relationship of sight and sound. Add in a flawless bridge by guest vocalist Konshens and the end result is a sight to behold.

David Cobo - No One - [Official Video] | @david_cobo_ |

David Cobo’s story is one of a man fighting for freedom. Freedom from social constructs, freedom from haters and freedom to speak the truth. Born in Angola and raised in Austin, Texas, Cobo is no stranger to change. In his new video for “No One,” Cobo takes us through his artistic evolution, putting his heart on his sleeve in this no-holds-barred new video.

The “No One” music video starts with Cobo in his creative sanctuary, ravaging his journal, obsessively writing and rewriting lyrics by himself. When the second verse drops, he is found following the train tracks, eluding to his journey as an artist. His passion, alone, is enough for him to follow this path blindly, fueled by the desire to stick it to the ones who don’t believe in him. For the final verse, Cobo makes it to the studio, where he spills his heart out to the microphone.

In his own words, David Cobo states: “Originality is the main key to success. When you’re yourself you can’t be anything but yourself… Never let anyone tell you what you can or can’t do; stay true to yourself and fight for what you believe in.”

Jesse Medina - Chasin' Franklin (feat. Kool Keith) | @MeetJesseMedina |

https://soundcloud.com/meetjessemedina/chasin-franklin-feat-kool-keith

To celebrate his upcoming collaboration with Granjer Records, Bay Area artist Jesse Medina shares the stream of his inebriated new single, “Chasin’ Franklin” featuring rap legend, Kool Keith.

The single is a celebration of hedonism of all kinds, so it’s only fitting that an emcee known for fully enjoying those particular pleasures would make an appearance. We’re talking about Keith, of course, who provides a properly nutty complementary verse boasting left-field rhymes such as “Psychedelic/ Takin’ pills with computers.” It’s an ill follow-up to Medina’s shape-shifting opening bars, which find the San Jose native weaving in and out of the booze-soaked instrumental.

Speaking of, the track is produced by fellow Bay Area resident Mr. Aeks, whose affinity for blending genres within Hip-Hop instrumentals is well-known. And he brings that boundary-pushing approach to “Chasin’ Franklin” as well, mixing jazzy brass with Boom bap to great result.

“Chasin’ Franklin” is now available through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms, and is set to be featured on Granjer Records’ forthcoming compilation LP Thiswaywestward. The track is also accompanied with the release of a comic book that details Jesse’s adventures with the eccentric Dr. Octagon. The comic is available at select comic book retailers in the LA and the Bay Area, and can be purchased directed via Soft Comics online , and requesting a copy.

Rock (Heltah Skeltah) - "FaxMachine" ft. M.O.P | @_ROCKNESS_ @BILLDANZEMOP @FAMEMOP |

https://soundcloud.com/digitaldejavurecords/rock-heltah-skeltah-faxmachine-ft-mop

Fans of gully, hard-bodied Hip-Hop should consider today a damned holiday with the release of “FaxMachine,” an all-out banger from Rock that features none other than M.O.P.

While the three Brownsville natives have worked together before in varying capacities, “FaxMachine” may just be their finest—and toughest—collaboration yet. The track is fueled by some wild production by Ford Tuff and Pascal Zumaque, whose beat sounds like an epic fight between the Autobots and Decepticons.

It’s only fitting then that Rock delivers a clever nod to the Transformers franchise when he spits that he and M.O.P. are like “the cannon on Megatron’s arm/ And that ain’t gon’ change just ‘cause MegaSean gone.” It’s that sort of subtle reminder that point out not only Rock’s love for his lost partner-in-rhyme—Sean Price, of Heltah Skeltah, who passed away on August 8th of 2015—but also that he’s more than prepared to do his thing on the solo tip. It’s been a long time coming for the emcee’s full-length debut, Rockness A.P., which is finally set to drop this Friday, September 22nd.

“FaxMachine” is the seventh and final instant grat track available for download off the iTunes’ pre-order for, Rockness A.P. In addition to M.O.P., the 14 track LP includes guest features from Method Man, Raekwon, Inspectah Deck, Ras Kass, Kuniva (of D12), Ron Browz, and more, and is executive produced by Phil Anastasia (of Blood Before Pride). The album is now available for pre-order on CD as well as through the digital retailer of your choice via Digital Déjà Vu Records.

"Whitesplaining" is at the Forefront on SB's New Single "Wytesplain" | @esbee01 |

https://soundcloud.com/sbtheemcee/wytesplain

SB is Back with Wytesplain

Following the release of his soulful single "One Way", SB returns with "Wytesplain", a politically charged new single that precedes the release of his new album 'Land of Black Gold' on October 6th.

The song sees SB reflecting on Trump's election and the influx of hatred and racism across America.

" The song's title is an obvious play on the old but newly defined phenomenon - whitesplaining. According to the Urban Dictionary "whitesplaining" just like "mansplaining" refers to the format in which white people based their racial privilege on influenced by patriarchy speak to people of color attempting to define to them what racism is or isn't whilst exhibiting characteristics of said racism. The song began as a freestyle but later morphed into a song with the advent of Donald Trump's Presidential Election victory and gave me a chance to address this and other issues that exist not only within the American space but the world at large."

SB
