Representing “that fly sh*t and that new flamboyant wave that everybody wants to be on”, Hypo, the CEO behind UK Rap’s founding crew Mashtown makes a big entrance back in to the game with ‘Buss It Down’.
Featuring Suspect and Queens rapper Rich The Kid, who made a name for himself on the US rap scene after releasing his 2016 ’Trap Talk’ mixtape featuring the likes of Ty Dollar Sign, Migos, Party Next Door and 21 Savage, the international link up is produced by The Beat Boss and exemplifies why UK rap is on a fast ascent and is becoming as respected and embraced as other British sounds.
Having worked behind the scenes on successful albums for artists including Dappy and J Spades, and starting his own publishing company with Emeli Sande, Hypo explains that his business savvy and managerial edge has taken centre stage for a number of years but now “the UK scene is ready and needs me more than ever. There is no one like me yet, no one has the background I have and now is the moment to step in the front”
Live in the studios of BBC Radio 1Xtra, Hypo hand delivered the single, taken from forthcoming NH20 mixtape, for premiere with Charlie Sloth and it has since been championed by the original UK rap master, Tim Westwood at Capital Xtra. Rap heavy ‘Buss It Down’ aligns fans for what is to come on the solo project and true to his business nature, the crew CEO is set to push the sound of UK Rap to the point of no escape as there is also set to be Mashtown album dropping this year, which will feature the original crew and is set to create some serious attention.
