Sophie Coran releases the second single and title track, “All That Matters,” from her upcoming sophomore EP. Having spent the past year working with Philadelphia-based band, Darla, Sophie blends her sultry, intimate approach with full-band arrangements.
“All That Matters” highlights Coran’s jazz and R&B influences as well as her love for the heartbreaking music of Amy Winehouse. Beginning with organ (performed by Darla member, Wil Schade), Coran’s soulful vocals tell a story of the seductive world of the restaurant industry, and describe how easy it is to lose oneself in it. Soon, piano moves to the forefront, with continual organ flourishes, eventually giving way to a stripped back bridge, featuring vibrant Fender Rhodes. As the track culminates with a huge full-band arrangement, Coran confesses, “All I ever wanted was a crew.”
