Miami Florida upstart, WarLok, teams up with close friend, and Brooklyn native, St. Larok. The two emcees speak on their passions - especially for Hip Hop - and what drives them to remain resilient in the game. The soundscape, produced by St. Larok and mixed/mastered by Miami Beat Wave, is driven by a soulful sample laid over heavy kicks, and airy snares - reviving an era that remains loved - and missed - despite the evolving sounds of Hip Hop. "The Passion" is the first offering from WarloK's "1997" EP.

"I'm doing this for my mother, father, sisters, and my brothers. Middle finger to the system that never loved us and never plugged us with no benefits."

About WarLok:

Carlos Martinez, also known by, WarLok, is an up and coming music artist who’s on a mission to make his mark in the industry. The rapper/singer/songwriter is a Cuban American from New Jersey - who now resides in Miami. WarLok’s love for Hip Hop manifested at a young age in his birthplace of North Bergen, New Jersey, and has since inspired him to create his own music. His artist moniker, WarLok, was derived from his love for Marvel comic books - particularly his favorite character, Adam Warlock. He initially started using “Warlok” as his graffiti tag, later claiming it as his artist name.

WarLok’s musical influences are as diverse as the sound he has created for himself. Marvin Gaye, Notorious B.I.G., Sade, Anita baker, WuTang Clan, Beastie Boys, UGK, Trick Daddy, Eminem, and Billie Holiday, have all contributed to his style of music - which he started to create after linking with Brandan, of Miami Beat Wave, at his home studio. Another factor, that played a role in his decision to pursue music, was the environment he was in. Upon entering South Miami High School, WarLok found it to be the breeding ground for his lyricism, and penmanship.

Fun Fact: WarLok battled Pitbull in a cipher back when they were classmates in high school!
