Chino Amobi Announces LP 'Paradiso'

Chino Amobi

Enter 'PARADISO' - an auteur account of post-American wasteland broadcasted by NON co-founder CHINO AMOBI. Virginia based and born to Nigerian immigrants, Chino stands at a critical distance from America’s music landscape. From this wayward perspective, Chino narrates 'PARADISO', a musical epic set in a distorted Americana populated by a cast of sirens, demons, angels, imps, priests, hierophants, monsters and peasants. Familiar to some as NON affiliates Embaci, Haleek Maul, Nkisi, Aurel Haize Odogbo, Benja SL and FAKA, these vocal pieces appear across 'PARADISO's terrestrial tracks as clues to the release's greater mythology. While some voices actively forewarn the dangers endured in 'PARADISO' while others appear more as part of 'PARADISO's landscape than populace, all function as apocalyptic chorus attached to 'PARADISO's myth of the fallen city.

"O! Death has reared himself a throne
In a strange city, Paradiso.
Far down within the dim West,
Where the good and the bad and the worst and the best
Have gone to their eternal rest.
There shrines and palaces and towers
Time-eaten towers that tremble not
Resemble nothing that is ours." - Elysia Crampton

Chino Amobi debut album 'PARADISO' comes May 5, 2017 via UNO NYC & NON Worldwide. The artists’ journey covers an odyssey since 2015’s UNO EP Anya’s Garden, after which Chino performed at MoMA New York, CTM festival Berlin, C2C Turin, VIA festival, BEMF, Ableton Loop - as well as released his Airport Music For Black Folk + graced Adult Swim’s covetable Singles series.

Stepping out from his role among the founders of NON, Chino Amobi paints the landscape of 'PARADISO', an LP both deeply personal and widely collaborative. Interpreting the modern world from his uniquely African diasporic lens - Chino embarks on a utopian land via LP, detailing men, women, political and cultural implications in song. The album features many members of the NON collective as well as wider allies among the UNO camp and beyond, in addition to leaning heavily on his vocal roots. Available on all digital services, cassette and USB on this spring.
