The South Bronx’s own Axel Leon has been making major waves in the current rap renaissance happening in his home city. After mesmerizing viewers by his sharp wordplay on Hot 97 with Funk Flex, DJ Enuff’s The Hot Box and Sway In The Morning, listeners were waiting to see what the rhyme-spitter had next. At the top of 2017, Axel made his mark with the release of “Bang Bang 2K17,” a redux version of Capone-N-Noreaga’s classic which featured fellow NYC native Tru Life. With that, he also announced that he had been working on “Rich Port 2,” the sequel to the gritty 2015 mixtape he had previously released. Today, Axel unveils RP2 in it’s final form. Boasting features from the likes of Jim Jones and Tego Calderon, the 10-track project draws heavy inspiration from the cult-classic film “Paid In Full,” even interpolating some of it’s most powerful scenes.
