D.Valor - "Nujabes" Tribute | @dvalorofficial |

D.Valor iStandard | Producer/Songwriter D.Valor Gives us Life with a Nujabes Tribute

Providence producer D. Valor strikes a smooth note with this soulful birthday tribute to the late Japanese hip-hop icon Nujabes. The producer, who shares his born day with the late, great, J Dilla, is known for his jazz-infused, mellow and atmospheric approach to beat making.

The founder of the record store and label, Hydeout Productions, he built his profile in hip-hop’s underground. Working with a stable of internationally-based emcees including London-rap vet Funky DL; Ohio producer, Fat Jon; and Baltimore wordsmith, Substantial, Nujabes dropped several excellent albums including 2004’s Metaphorical Music that blended his jazzy beats with thoughtful rhymes.

Nujabes was also one of the biggest contributors to the music of Samurai Champloo, the acclaimed anime series blending hip-hop anachronisms with a feudal Japanese setting.

Nujabes was killed in a traffic accident in Tokyo on February 26, 2010, his death has received with a number of tributes in the years since, not the least of which came from friend and frequent collaborator Shing02 “Through his soulful music, Nujabes has touched so many people around the world, even beyond his dreams."

He goes by Producer/DJ/Creative Maven. "Challenge yourself". Listen to the Nujabes Tribute below:
